About the event
Daylight Hour, an annual social media campaign promoting the use of daylight in lieu of electric lighting in office spaces. On June 18th, 2021, participating organizations all over the world will turn off the lights in day-lit spaces for one hour and post to social media about their involvement. Whether you are participating in-office or at home, daylight can make a difference in how we live, work, and interact with our environment. Participation is easy. Registration is available here, and the Daylight Hour team provides templates for communication. On June 18th, from Noon to 1 pm, you turn the lights off in your day-lit spaces and promote your involvement on your social media channels. Daylight Hour relies upon social media involvement, and gives awards in both technical and creative categories to participating organizations. By participating in Daylight Hour, you can save energy and money and help demonstrate a strong environmental commitment at your organization. In addition, you can support an equitable post-pandemic future in the lighting in industry: while participation in Daylight Hour is free, proceeds from sponsorship and support will be donated to the Equity in Lighting scholarship fund.
